"The mission of the K4 program at Our Lady Queen of Peace School is to provide a nurturing environment that supports each child’s development in a holistic manner. We offer a classroom setting where each child’s academic, socio-emotional and spiritual development is encouraged through hands-on lessons, open-ended discovery, creative expression and direct instruction. In this setting, grounded in our Catholic faith, the students gain the skills necessary to become innovative problem solvers, socially confident learners, and responsible followers of Christ."

We Understand The Needs of Young Learners
- Our program has a play-based, developmentally-structured day to help young students succeed. Our engaging, hands-on lessons provide an appropriate level of challenge, and our free-choice center time options include dramatic play, science, art, math toys, a building area, literacy games, and more. These centers are updated frequently based on our changing themes throughout the year. Our Happily Ever After curriculum uses classic stories and engaging activities to teach early literacy skills.
- Socio-emotional lessons and religious education are woven throughout our daily curriculum.
- We establish routines and classroom jobs early on for our daily schedule and transitions, teaching responsibility and self-confidence.
- We provide healthy snacks, recess times, movement breaks, and a rest time to meet each young learner’s physical needs to be successful throughout the day.
We Understand the Needs of Families
- We provide three different scheduling options to fit different needs, and we offer an After School Childcare Program on-site.
- All students have lunch in the cafeteria and two optional hot lunch choices are available each day. Healthy snacks at our snack times are provided by the K4 program and are sensitive to student allergy needs.
- We are partners in your child’s education and believe communication is key. K4 teachers can be contacted via phone, e-mail, or sit-down meetings throughout the year. We have Parent-Teacher Conferences in November and March, and report cards in January and May. Classroom updates are sent home weekly through e-mail and the K4 website. School-wide updates are sent weekly via e-mail and the QP website.
Our School Promotes Life-Long Learning
- Students have access to the experiences and resources of the larger school community. We participate in many school-wide assemblies, activities, service projects, Masses, and all-school prayer services.
- Our K4 curriculum is further enhanced with weekly participation in specials classes, including music, library, guidance, Spanish, physical education, computers, reading lab, and tech class.
- Examples of our field trips include Appleberry Farm and the Madison Children’s Museum. We welcome guest speakers as well, and in the past they have ranged from a fire safety talk from a firefighter, interactive lessons from Kindermusik, art lessons from a retired art teacher, dancing drummers from Haiti, a healthy-eating workshop from Whole Foods, and more!
